The St. Ignatius High School Wildcats U17 B side rugby team faced La Plata's L'Oro side on March 30 in one of four matches played on that day during the Wildcats' tour of Argentina.

L'Oro won 31-7.

Despite the scoreline, the Wildcats' Colin Spellacy shone as a bright spot for St. Ignatius, scoring tries for the visiting outfit, along with Collin Spellacy who availed a successful conversion. In addition, recognition was given to the Wildcats' Hayden Voth and Bryce Comeau for their outstanding individual performances. Voth and Spellacy, in particular, were hailed for their exceptional kicking on the day. Comeau's efforts playing No. 8 were characterized by strong running skills and powerful tackling.

"The players played well but we didn't really acclimate to the weather. These guys have played today but in groups of 5 or 6. This team was arranged by age not grade so we didn't have as much cohesion as La Plata and it showed," said Coach Joe Zowadny, highlighting the differences in environmental and team dynamics that the Wildcats had to grapple with during the encounter.

It's back to the drawing board for the young athletes as they look forward to their next challenge. Their upcoming game is set for April 2 against San Ignacio in Mar del Plata.
